Choose Durawood for high-humidity rooms, commercial fit-outs, and any space with condensation risk. Choose Real Wood for living rooms, executive offices, and premium residential spaces where genuine timber finish is the priority. Both carry a 1-year workmanship warranty.
Real wood window blinds — genuine timber, not a printed finish
A real wood blind is milled from kiln-dried Basswood or Paulownia timber. The grain is the timber's own, so no two slats are identical and the surface takes a stain finish that coordinates with wood furniture and flooring. That is the difference from a wood-look blind: Durawood reproduces the appearance of wood in an engineered PVC composite, and does it well, but the texture is printed and embossed rather than grown.
Real wood is also markedly lighter than Durawood, which matters on wide windows where a composite blind becomes heavy to raise. We installed real wood blinds in a Beech R503 finish at Avalon Condo in San Juan; Durawood went into the Victoria Tower penthouse in Manila, in Almond. Both are the right answer for the room they went into.
Where real wood belongs
Air-conditioned living rooms, bedrooms and executive offices — rooms with controlled humidity. Never bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas or anywhere with direct rain exposure. Timber absorbs moisture and will warp; that is what Durawood exists for.
Slat widths and ladder tape
50mm is the standard residential slat — fine enough to stack compactly when raised. 63mm gives a bolder, more architectural look for large windows and high ceilings. Ladder tape, the wide fabric tape that replaces the visible string ladder, is an add-on priced per blind, in several colourways.
What it costs
Real wood runs ₱400–₱600+ per square foot against ₱280–₱350 for Durawood — an estimate for budgeting, not a quotation. Your figure depends on window sizes, slat width and whether you add ladder tape, so we measure before we price.
Living with real wood blinds
Dust with a soft dry cloth, or one that is barely damp. Do not soak the surface — standing moisture swells timber and lifts the finish. In a correctly dry room, real wood blinds last as long as Durawood, roughly ten to fifteen years, and the natural finish tends to look better as it settles.
Individual slats slide out of the cord ladder and can be replaced without touching the rest of the blind, so note your finish name and series from the original order. Motorised headrails are available and are worth considering on wide real wood blinds. Every installation carries a one-year workmanship warranty, and site measurement across all 14 NCR cities is free.
