Why Do Prices Vary?
Not all SPC is created equal. The cost difference usually lies in the core density, wear layer, and backing material.
Stone-Polymer Ratio
Premium SPC uses 70% virgin limestone for maximum rigidity. Cheaper blends use recycled fillers that can become brittle.
Wear Layer (0.3 vs 0.5)
The transparent topcoat. 0.3mm is standard for homes; 0.5mm is required for heavy commercial traffic.
IXPE Backing Thickness
Thicker 1.5mm built-in foam provides better sound absorption and comfort than standard 1mm backing.
Subfloor Condition
SPC requires a flat surface (±3mm over 3m). Uneven floors require self-leveling compound (additional cost).
Plank Pattern
Herringbone patterns require 15% wastage allowance and take 2x longer to install than straight planks.
Logistics & Access
Transport to high-rise condos or provincial areas will incur additional handling fees.
How to Calculate
Your Requirements
Measure Net Area
Get the Length x Width of your rooms (e.g. 5m x 4m = 20sqm).
Add Waste Factor
Add 10% for cuts and waste. (e.g. 20sqm x 1.10 = 22sqm needed).
Calculate Boxes
Divide Total Area by Box Coverage (2.2326 sqm/box).
